A progressive assembly horizontal carousel from Remstar is a cost effective way to integrate sub-assemblies and inventory for improved productivity in assembly and production applications.
The Remstar horizontal carousel is a system of horizontally rotating shelves suspended from a guide track. In a progressive assembly application, a horizontal carousel is used to store in-process inventory, and transport and consolidate items at different stages of assembly, or that are used in a production line. Progressive assembly horizontal carousels can help an organization meet lean manufacturing objectives by reducing inventory improving system throughput and employee productivity by reducing the number of times inventory is handled. Assembly accuracy improves since the correct components for each assembly stage are stored in the horizontal carousel.
In a typical application, several assembly stations are arranged around a continuously moving horizontal carousel. Personnel remove partially assembled units from pre-defined shelf locations, perform additional work on them, then return them to another shelf location on the moving carousel. In this way, product assemblies-in-process continuously move through a series of stations until they are completed and ready to be transferred to the next operation or to shipping.
Transport carts can be used as part of the system to remove sub-assemblies for work at remote workstations and return with them to be staged in the carousel for the next operation.
