This session will discuss the real opportunities to “LEAN” out the inefficiencies in a day to day operation by “improving and creating processes” when cost effective automation has been implemented.

In today’s global environment, there are ways for manufacturers, kitting operations, WIP applications, Kanban inventories, central supply areas, maintenance parts storage areas, and central distribution centers (among others) to gain a profitable edge.

LEANing the processes through optimized material storage and flow can allow you to enhance your throughput to better utilize floor space for revenue, reduce labor costs by decreasing wasted time, decrease errors in the supply chain, reduce inventory, tighten inventory control and reduce injuries and lost hours.

This session will take a closer look at how slotting products directly effects how quickly and accurately the product gets out the door and to the customer. General rules of thumb on slotting such as categorizing your product into fast, medium and slow movers, storing each type of mover in the most efficient storage medium and making product flow decisions at the dock when product is received will be discussed. Understanding slotting and reviewing your current product locations will improve product flow.

Major issues such as space, productivity, work flow, project funding and labor will be identified and potential solutions will be discussed to achieve up to a 600% increase in efficiencies in 6 months. This warehouse on steroids approach will use Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing & Distribution techniques to help increase your efficiencies. Return On Investment and how to get project funding to increase your warehouse efficiencies will be reviewed and a free ROI/IRR tool will be given to all attendees. 

Understanding and calculating your Return On Investment can make funding approval easier then you've ever dreamed. This session will outline the steps and information gathering that is necessary in the R.O.I. process. Real life examples of how R.O.I. was used to get funding approval to automate warehouses will be reviewed. You will leave with a R.O.I. worksheet and a clear understanding of how you can apply R.O.I. to your own operation and get the funding you need to improve your day to day operations and increase your bottom line.

 Key concerns and current challenges facing operations management will be discussed. Based on the issues and challenges generated, you’ll be provided a logical step by step plan to meet your needs through applying the various types of Automated Storage and Retrieval Solutions. Each participant will leave with a new vision of possible solutions to improve their ever-changing operations.
