What:

Keeping counter employees at the work counter and helping customers is the objective of ever retail operation. The ability of having inventory at their fingertips and within line of eye of the counter increases customer satisfaction levels.

These counter employees often have the most product knowledge, field experience in determining what the customer needs and translating their needs into a sale. The counter staff is often one of the highest paid employees in many operations.
