Kitting

What:

Kitting is the assembly of component parts or sub-assemblies into a single unit that forms a complete package and new part.

Where:

Kitting is often used in manufacturing and parts distribution. Also common in MRO and other applications where individual parts must be installed or used in conjunction to complete an activity.

Why:

Kitting can reduce peak work flow by having operators pick one Kitted SKU (that is comprised of many SKUs) during less active times rather than having to make all the individual picks required to make up the kit. The result is improved quality and accuracy and often lowers labor costs.
